According to data released by Newcastle Port Corporation, the Port of Newcastle's coal exports totaled 3.4 million tons in the week ended on September 2nd, rising by 23% from a week ago.
In August, the Port of Newcastle exported 12.52 million tons of thermal coal and coking coal, higher than the port authority's forecast of 12.45 million tons.
Meanwhile, the largest exporters to ship coal from the Port of Newcastle are Anglo American, Peabody Energy, Rio Tinto and Xstrata.
